Andrew Pickett

Andrew Pickett, originally from Moncton, studied molecular biology at Dalhousie University before going on to earn an M.Mus. in voice from Western University and a graduate diploma from the Royal College of Music, where he learned with (among others) early music legends Emma Kirkby, James Bowman, and Michael Chance. He has performed chamber music and opera in Europe, Canada and the United States, has sung with numerous professional ensembles including the Tafelmusik Chamber Choir, and was a lay clerk at Manchester Cathedral. He was also the first countertenor ever named to the National Youth Choir of Canada. Andrew now lives in Halifax where he is a voice teacher, artistic director of Galileo Baroque Choir and Helios Vocal Ensemble, and serves on the teaching faculty of the Halifax Institute of Traditional and Early Music.
