A native of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Paul is an Honours graduate from the University of Victoria where he studied double bass and voice.

Paul joined the Vancouver Chamber Choir in 2001. He previously sang with the Tudor Singers of Montreal and the Elmer Iseler Singers in Toronto. He has performed as a soloist and ensemble singer with a number of choral and instrumental organizations including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal, and at the Montreal Jazz Festival.
