About the Symposium
The Conductors’ Symposium is an opportunity to take part in masterclasses with one of Canada’s premier professional choral ensembles. Under the guidance of Artistic Director Kari Turunen, five conductors from across Canada, the United States, and around the world will have ample podium and discussion time to hone their skills in a highly collaborative and collegial setting, all while preparing for a public concert at the end of the week. This year’s theme is music by Canadian women composers.
Features:
- approximately 3 hours of podium time per active participant
- small cohort (5 active conductors, 3-5 auditors)
- 2-3 daily sessions of group discussion and feedback with Dr. Turunen
- working with 16 supportive and dedicated professional singers
- daily written feedback from the singers

How to Apply
There are two ways to apply:
1. Download the brochure/application form and email the completed form to education@vancouverchamberchoir.com.
2. Submit an online application.
There is no application fee, but successful applicants will be invoiced for the applicable registration fee ($800 Conductor, $450 Observer).
Applicants must include the following supporting materials:
- A cover letter containing a short statement of their conducting goals
- An up-to-date curriculum vitae
- Links to one or two videos (if possible, one rehearsal and one performance)
Participants are responsible for their own travel, meals, and accommodation.
